AI-powered learning for an AI-powered workforce: inside team.blue's AI Pathfinder
As AI becomes part of everyday work, organisations face a new challenge: how do you ensure that thousands of employees, across different functions and levels of expertise, develop the skills they actually need?
At team.blue, we believe the answer goes beyond generic AI training. A software developer, a marketing specialist and a finance professional don't need identical AI skills. Their learning should reflect how AI can support their specific work.
This thinking led to AI Pathfinder, a company-wide initiative designed to make AI upskilling personalised and practical.
The right AI skills for the right people
Led by team.blue’s HR Talent Management team, AI Pathfinder begins with a short, interactive diagnostic. Colleagues answer questions that assess their existing AI knowledge and practical understanding.
An AI-powered recommendation layer then combines their proficiency level with their professional role to match them with a personalised learning path from a set of paths curated by the team.
The result is a tailored journey that helps employees build the capabilities most relevant to their everyday responsibilities. The goal is to help people know how to use AI in their work.
Built with AI, shaped by our people
What makes Pathfinder particularly interesting is how it was created. The diagnostic was developed using Macaly, an AI-powered application-building platform, demonstrating how new technology can make application development accessible beyond traditional technical teams.
The HR Talent Management team drove the initiative in collaboration with the AI team and team.blue's AI Champions network.
AI Champions, colleagues across the organisation who actively advocate for AI adoption, played a central role in shaping the experience. They contributed to the quiz content and format and helped define the learning curricula for different professional roles. They also tested the solution extensively.
This collaborative approach combined HR Learning expertise and practical business knowledge with AI technology to create a solution designed around the needs of employees. It also shows that AI is helping employees create new solutions of their own.
From a single initiative to scalable enablement
Launched group-wide in July 2026, Pathfinder is available to more than 4,000 colleagues across team.blue's international organisation. Within its first three months, approximately 900 colleagues voluntarily completed the diagnostic, receiving recommendations for their personalised learning journeys.
The process is automated, from completing the diagnostic to receiving a tailored learning path, making it possible to deliver individualised guidance across a large, distributed workforce without manual administration.
Pathfinder is designed to complement team.blue's broader AI literacy initiatives, taking learning one step further: from foundational awareness towards role-specific capabilities and practical application.
"The real value of AI Pathfinder is how it tailors learning to your current skills, making AI a practical advantage. As I recently transitioned to Project Lead, this personalised path gave me the exact tools and inspiration to integrate AI daily and hit the ground running at 100%. An incredible initiative to turn knowledge into immediate impact!" Gianluca Carrara, Project Lead, team.blue brand Register.it
Building the capabilities for tomorrow
For team.blue, AI enablement means ensuring that people across the organisation have the knowledge and confidence to use new tools effectively.
AI Pathfinder illustrates how personalised learning, employee collaboration and AI-powered automation can come together to support that ambition.
As team.blue continues its AI transformation, initiatives like Pathfinder help create the foundation for broader adoption and long-term value creation.
